DAKSHI Councils

As part of the activities of the councils, DAKSHI conducts a monthly Book Review Series. Each month, a member from one of the councils reviews a selected book related to the council’s area of study, followed by a discussion on the ideas and themes presented in the book.

The Gyan Darshan Council focuses on understanding and sharing knowledge from Indian Knowledge Systems. The Council conducts basic research and creates posts, articles, and other content for Instagram and other social media platforms. It aims to make important ideas and knowledge accessible to a wider audience.

The Historical Council studies Indian history from different historical perspectives. It works with historical texts, sources, events, and traditions to develop a better understanding of India’s past. The Council also conducts educational initiatives such as certificate courses on Brahmi Lipi and Sanskrit Language.

The Philosophical Council studies Indian philosophical traditions and their different schools of thought. It explores important philosophical concepts, texts, ideas, and their relevance to contemporary society. The Council promotes research, reading, and discussions on Indian philosophy.

The Public Policy & Governance Council studies ideas of governance, administration, public policy, and social organisation through the perspective of Indian Knowledge Systems. It explores how Indian ideas and traditions can contribute to contemporary discussions on governance, policymaking, and public life.

The Scientific & Mathematical Council studies the development of scientific and mathematical knowledge in India. It explores concepts, texts, methods, and contributions from Indian Knowledge Systems and connects them with wider scientific and mathematical thought. The Council aims to encourage research and discussion on India’s contributions to science and mathematics.

The Sahitya Parishad focuses on Indian literature, languages, literary traditions, and texts. It encourages reading, research, and discussion on the rich literary heritage of India and explores its intellectual, cultural, and social significance.
